The movie "21"

The painting --"Stars On Water" with the artist.............me

Over a year ago I was contacted by Columbia Pictures for approval to show a painting of mine that I was commissioned to do for the new Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas. I had had several friends who were visiting Los Vegas try to find my painting. This is apparently a huge hotel and casino. When I was contacted I asked where it had been placed and was told that it is hanging inside the teller's cage in the High Roller Lounge. One friend said that he finally found it and that even though he is not a "high roller" he is a "high stroller". Well, the movie ( "21" with Kevin Spacey) finally came out -- actually premiering in Austin. I was quite miffed at not being invited. I guess they don't know "who" I am -- yet. My husband, Frank Curtis, had the brilliant idea to get a group of friends together to go see it when it finally hit the regular theaters. I thought it could be a big let down if the shots of the painting had landed on the cutting room floor -- but what the heck -- anything is a good excuse for a party and it seemed like I hadn't been out of the studio in weeks. So Sunday March 30, eleven of us met at the theater and sat in a huge group to the amazement of other theater goers who as we filed in were counting out loud. I got really wrapped up in the movie and during one steamy love scene my husband leaned over and whispered that he was having a little trouble in focusing on looking for my painting. I never saw it but several friends swore that they did. In a very fast and blurry scene about 4/5 of the way through the movie. I'll have to get the DVD when it comes out and check it out in slow motion. Maybe the uncut version will have more of it. So the reviewers are saying there are some holes in the plot -- so what! I loved it. It is, after all, my "movie debut". It was very entertaining................and it was the top grossing film in the US over the weekend. Our whole group enjoyed it and we had a grand time going to dinner together afterwards. I've recently had a company in Los Angeles contact me which wants to represent my paintings and rent them to TV shows and movies. I'm thinking about it but I really don't know if I can handle all that partying.
